Synopsis
故事发生在十九世纪七十年代的美国新墨西哥洲，杰夫兹（沃尔特·休斯顿WalterHuston饰）是生活在那里的一名丧妻多年的农场主，在他的悉心抚养之下，他的女儿万斯（芭芭拉·斯坦威克BarbaraStanwyck饰）和儿子克雷（约翰·布罗姆菲尔德JohnBromfield饰）都顺利长大成人。万斯和杰夫兹的仇人达罗（温戴尔·柯瑞WendellCorey饰）坠入了情网之中，可是，在爱情和利益面前，达罗最终选择了后者，无情的抛弃了万斯。之后，万斯又邂逅了当地土著胡安（吉尔伯特·罗兰GilbertRoland饰），就在两人越走越近之际，杰夫兹宣布要将胡安一家人从他们生活的土地之上赶走。
