Synopsis
该剧全面展示了旧社会江湖艺人的生活艰辛、喜怒哀乐，展现出江湖艺人台前幕后的点点滴滴。使观众能够从中了解到江湖规矩、行业规矩、舞台规矩等鲜为人知的行业特点。以及艺人如何学艺、练功直到成材的艰辛过程。师父如何给徒弟单独“过活”、“说活”(教授相声节目)同时向观众说明了口传心受这种所谓过时的教学方式对传承相声这门传统艺术的必要性。剧中涉及到相声、鼓曲、戏曲、评书、魔术、杂耍、摔交等各个艺术门类，从而证明相声是一门综合艺术。剧中还展现了艺人之间的相亲、相斥、相爱的微妙关系，把人性最本质的弱点给予了赤裸裸的揭露。
