Synopsis
波罗接到他的老情人的一封信，约他来巴格达，等他赶到时，对方已经离开了。在巴格达，他遇到了考古队的莱德纳博士和他的新婚妻子路易斯。怪事发生了。路易斯在婚后又接到了恐吓信，这已经不是第一次。她原来结过婚，后来丈夫在战争中被枪决，庆幸的是他没有死，于是逃逸中他给妻子发来恐吓信，一旦她要再嫁，他就要杀死她。后来她的丈夫在火车失事中死去。可是，就在她嫁给莱德纳三个星期之后，又收到了恐吓信。笔迹是模仿路易斯的，好象是她给自己写的。不久路易斯被害，只有博士的助手江森小姐看到了凶手。很快她也死于非命。
