Synopsis
年仅6岁的劳德•舍曼（Shirley Temple 秀兰•邓波 饰）是一个天真可爱的小女孩，她憨态可掬，招人疼爱，父亲的士兵都戏谑地称之为小上校。劳德的母亲伊丽莎白（Evelyn Venable 饰）是一位南联盟军上校的女儿，她与来自北方的杰克坠入爱河，却遭致古板父亲（Lionel Barrymore 饰）的反对。最终伊丽莎白选择了爱情，而父亲也与之决裂。 六年后，小上校和母亲返回外公家。时间并未冲淡父女间的隔阂，老上校对女儿依然冷颜以对。小上校的出现打破了尴尬的局面，她凭着机智和可爱渐渐弥合了外公和母亲心中的裂痕……
